JCB in the fast lane again

8 Apr 2011

JCB was once again in the fast lane at both the recent Phillip Island Classic Festival of Motorsport and the Australian Formula 1 race. A rare 1969 Chevron B8 was shipped out to Australia from the UK specifically for these 2 significant race meets. This car was originally purchased new by Sir Anthony Bamford, the owner of JCB, in 1969 for a factory team entry in the 1969 Le Mans 24hr race. It is the only Chevron B8 to race at Le Mans. It also raced at the Targa Florio and the Nurburgring 1000k in 1969 just to name a few of the many other sports car races it competed in at that time. The car has been restored to its original condition in its JCB colours and livery by Gelscoe Motorsport and is now regularly raced by Andy Newall in the UK winning the Oulton Park Gold Cup two years in a row.

The car ran faultlessly at both the Phillip Island and at the F1 meetings proudly flying the JCB flag in front of massive crowds.
